The Great Squirrel Standoff
October 15, 2025
A window, a squirrel, and thirty minutes neither side was willing to concede.
It started innocently enough — a squirrel on the fence, well outside any realistic pouncing range, and Lucy parked at the living room window doing her best impression of a gargoyle. Most days this lasts a minute or two before she loses interest. Not this squirrel. This squirrel had the audacity to sit down.
What followed was a genuine test of wills. The squirrel groomed itself, unbothered. Lucy did not blink, did not sit, did not so much as glance away to check her water bowl. Thirty minutes in, the squirrel finally wandered off — and Lucy, convinced this was a personal victory, spent the rest of the afternoon patrolling the yard like she’d won a war.
